Fortune Favors (To See Life in Many Dimensions) Silk-cotton Scarf

Sale price$ 50.00

Limited edition of 20. “Fortune Favors” is a wearable artist multiple series by Hamish Robertson, commissioned for Corita Day 2024 — a celebration of the life and work of Corita Kent.

Each silk-cotton blend scarf bears a mixed-media collage crafted of found materials from the January 1967 issue of Fortune magazine—the same year Corita Kent created such iconic pieces as "Stop the Bombing" and "Power Up." The magazine, very much a snapshot of its time, brims with misogynistic slogans and reductive portrayals of women as secretaries and housewives. Through these collages, that negative messaging is eliminated and recontextualized, transforming outdated narratives into a tribute to Kent’s trailblazing, inclusive, and compassionate vision.

Edition of 20. 50% silk, 50% cotton. 17.5" x 17.5" (45cm x 45cm) — suitable as a neckerchief or pocket square. Packaged in a hand-printed envelope.
